Over a few weeks of sessions, the therapist will work to establish positive rapport and trust with the client, and then some therapeutic goals will be identified in collaboration.
Session take place weekly and goals will be reviewed accordingly. Progress reports can be provided for review purposes such as IEP meetings or health/disability review meetings.
WHAT DO SESSIONS INVOLVE?
IN a typical session, a range of instruments are made available to the client. The role of the therapist is to creatively guide and support music making and exploration of sounds so that ways to connect and communicate within a safe, therapeutic relationship.
No previous experience of music or musical abilities are required! Goals for music therapy are not music-orientated for example, learning how to play an instrument.
